To press the "pause" button on cancer progression, immunotherapy is the key

The most challenging aspect of treating malignant tumors is their ability to continuously metastasize or recur, akin to "wildfire that cannot be extinguished, spring breeze that brings new growth." Compared to other treatments, what is the most distinctive effect of NKT cell immunotherapy?
Achieving the "Tail Effect" - That is, patients can continuously obtain stable effects from immunotherapy and achieve long-term survival.
Unlike surgery, radiotherapy, or chemotherapy, traditional treatments show quick effects in addressing current symptoms but often do not last long. New recurrences or metastases may occur after about a year or even a few months.
However, cell immunotherapy, although not immediately effective, once it takes effect, can maintain the condition stable for several years, just like pressing the "pause" button on cancer, preventing it from "springing back to life".
In the 10-year practice of NKT cell therapy, the longest-lived patient (with lung metastasis from gastric cancer) in the observed and followed-up cases has achieved over 9 years of long-term stability and still lives a happy life!
Today, I am presenting a case of a rectal cancer patient who has been undergoing NKT cell immunotherapy for the third year. After he completed one year of treatment, we have been publishing the latest follow-up results every year.

Case analysis of Mr. Ma's previous cases: In October 2019, Mr. M underwent a colonoscopy due to increasingly severe blood in his stool, which he had initially ignored. The pathology report revealed moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. Further CT scans showed perirectal mesenteric lymph nodes, suggesting lower rectal cancer (stage CT3N1b).

Due to the patient's desire to preserve anal function, no surgical treatment was performed. Instead, he received 22 sessions of radiation therapy and took oral capecitabine. Subsequent follow-up examinations showed improvement in the lesion compared to previous findings.

The next treatment goal for Mr. M is to extend this hard-won "disease-free" period. Since the primary lesion still exists, reducing the probability of possible "recurrence and metastasis" is of utmost importance.

After fully understanding NKT cell immunotherapy with Professor Zhang Minghui and his team from Tsinghua University School of Medicine, Mr. M decided to undergo NKT cell therapy in November 2018, with one course per month.
Up to now, the patient has undergone 26 consecutive courses of systematic treatment, 6 follow-ups, and imaging examinations, showing no obvious signs of recurrence or metastasis, with tumor markers at normal levels.

His weight has increased by 1~3kg compared to before, his mental state and sleep are excellent, and his quality of life score has remained around 85 points.
